Pre-K2 Montessori
Preschool Program
Pre-K 2 (3 1/2 – 4 1/2 year olds)
The Pre-K2 room is designed for 3 1/2 – 4 1/2 year-olds who are preparing for Kindergarten Readiness is what you will observe in these rooms. These large, bright rooms have creative art from all children posted all over the walls. You will observe the teachers guiding, observing, and evaluating your child’s development as all children are working at their own pace based on each individual child’s needs and abilities while continuing Montessori Theory.
Learning Centers
Children work on developing their self-help skills through everyday tasks such as cleaning up toys after play, taking care of personal belongings, carrying out classroom jobs, and assisting their teachers with daily routines.
They are introduced to letters, numbers, days of the week, months of the year, seasons, shapes, and weather conditions in our daily morning meetings and reinforced through our weekly themes.
In our Pre-K 2 room, our children are encouraged to foster their learning by independently choosing work that they are most interested in. Whether it is during dramatic play, science, art, or block building your little one will be able to apply what they learn during play.
We encourage the little ones in our care to be kind and treat their peers with respect. We use a daily behavior chart to help them become more aware of their actions and how they affect the people around them. We strongly believe in the importance of bridging the gap between home and school. You will receive daily reports informing you of activities, bathroom trips, meals, moods, illness and injuries, behaviors, and upcoming events.
By the time they are ready to transition out of this classroom, they will have gained a love and appreciation for all genres of music, will have an understanding and respect for individual differences, be able to count and recognize the numbers 1-30, be able to identify all 26 letters of the alphabet and their sounds, recognize and spell their names, and have a strong foundation to begin handwriting.
